Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between inline and split view? +
Split view shows the two texts side by side, with additions highlighted green on the right and deletions in red on the left. Inline view shows both in a single column — red lines were removed, green lines were added. Split is better for reading context; inline is better for seeing exactly what changed.
Can I upload files to compare? +
Yes — click "Upload File" above each panel to load any text or code file. Common formats include .txt, .js, .ts, .py, .json, .html, .css, .md, .yaml, and more. Files are read locally and never uploaded to a server.
Does this highlight word-level changes? +
Yes — for lines that are similar but changed, the tool highlights the specific words or characters that differ within the line (shown with a darker background). This helps identify small changes in long lines.
Is there a size limit for comparison? +
There is no hard limit, but comparisons of very large files (10,000+ lines) may be slow since everything runs in your browser. For very large codebases, a dedicated diff tool like git diff is recommended.
Is my content sent to a server? +
No. The entire comparison runs in JavaScript in your browser. Your text and files never leave your device.
